DB STROKE
Level 2
- 1Supporting hand placement is on the horse’s middle back to last rib area.
- 2From ZEBRA stroke, in 2Track flow to the front of the hip joint. The straight stroke of the db goes from the hip joint to under the point of hip. This aspect of the stroke is now referred to as db baseline. Stroke back and forth along the db baseline. When flow and rhythm are established, create a semicircular stroke around the hip joint. Allow the Sumchi6 to swivel in your hand and adjust accordingly to 2 or 3Track.
- 3As the name suggests this stroke resembles a “d” or it’s mirror image, “b” on the other side of the horse.
- 4Circle two times around the hip joint and connect with the db baseline again.
- 5From the db baseline, drive over the point of hip into the mid thoracic region of the back.
- 6In one smooth motion, glide back along the same path to the front of the hip joint. Stroke the db baseline, circle around the hip joint, stroke the db baseline, drive over the point of hip to the mid-thoracic region of the back. Repeat the db stroke 3x.
The SUMCHI db stroke is designed to help activate the Psoas Group and improve the large fascia component around the hip joint and tuber coxae. The stroke connects with the iliopsoas, psoas minor, quadriceps femoris, iliocostal, gluteal tongue, longissimus dorsi to encourage engagement of the hindquarters.
From L6 to the region of the last ribs, the db stroke connects with the richly interlaced area of the iliopsoas attachments, thoracolumbar fascia and lumbosacral plexus.
The flowing wave action of this stroke works to improve fluidity and mobility of the trunk and hindquarter. The db stroke can link in with powerful points along the Bladder and Gall bladder meridian channels.
